SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT FOR MANAGERS AND SUPERVISORS
Purpose
OHS training for supervisors is vital to an organisations safety culture. `Planting the seed’ in supervisors promotes safety throughout the organisation at all levels. This training is aimed at those who require practical skills and knowledge in OHS
supervision and to uphold safety and health in the workforce. You will be able to formulate and monitor OHS policies and procedures, undertake risk management, and communicate and consult on OHS matters.
Pre requisite
There are no pre requisites for this course.
Aims and outcomes
As a result of attending this course, participants will:
• Gain an understanding of OHS legislation – Acts, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice applicable to their workplace • Provide information to the workgroup about OHS • Undertake safety inspections, investigations and audits • Develop and participate in safety meetings and consult with staff on safety matters. • Identify and act on training needs in the workplace • Implement and monitor procedures for identifying hazards, assessing and controlling risks • Maintain OHS records for the team
Course Content
The training plan is derived from the Nationally Recognised unit of competency within the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF):
BSBOHS407A Monitor a safe workplace
Day 1: OHS legislation and codes of practice; organisation's OHS policies, procedures and programs; identified hazards and the outcomes of risk assessment; OHS communication and consultation
Day 2: Identify OHS training needs; report on hazards; implement and monitor procedures to control risks; OHS records of incidents of occupational injury and disease
Certification
On completion, candidates will be issued with an Loadwise Australia RTO# 88198 'Statement of Attainment', being awarded unit BSBOHS407A Monitor a safe workplace as part of BSB40807 Certificate IV in Frontline Management.
