Purpose
Current Legislation requires Skid Steer Loader operators to be trained and show proof of competency. This course is designed to provide participants with a sound understanding and knowledge to operate a machine safely. On completion, participants will be able to conduct pre-start and pre-operational checks; recognize danger areas; operate skid steer loader correctly and safely through all areas of operation.
Course Content
The Skid Steer Loader training plan is based on the Unit of Competencies within the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF):
RIIMP0318A Conduct Skid Steer Loader Operations
Legislation in the Workplace - O.H.S. Acts and Regulations; Duty of care obligations, Safety issues and enterprise/site requirements. Plan Work - Site requirements and rules; site hazard identification; emergency procedures; priorities; machine requirements/work identified and verified from job specifications; site plans. Operate Machinery - Main components identified; pre-start and pre-operational checks; capabilities and limitations; operational efficiency determined by ground and weather characteristics; operated in a safe manner. Practical Training - Loads shifted/transferred in accordance with job requirements in a safe manner; excavation and leveling techniques; appropriate attachments & accessories used.
Certification Competent candidates will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Loadwise Australia 'Statement of Attainment' in the unit RIIMPO318A Conduct skid steer loader operations.
